He was born December 31, 1940 in Stafford, KS the son of Hilmer and Mildred Miskimen Schwertfeger. He was an implement dealer. He was a lifetime resident of Kinsley, KS. He was a member of the St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Kinsley.
On September 24, 1977 he married Mary F. Barrett in Hoisington, KS. She preceded him in death 2001. Other survivors include four brothers Harlan Schwertfeger of Hutchinson, KS, Carl Schwertfeger of Lawrence, KS, Alan Schwertfeger of San Diego, CA, and David Schwertfeger of Kansas City, MO.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday June 16, 2008 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Kinsley, KS with Fr. Ted Stoecklein presiding. Burial will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Kinsley.
