A semi trailer came lose on Kansas Avenue in Greensburg on June 13 and slid into the Dillons parking lot.

Eastbound traffic on Kansas Avenue in Greensburg was limited to one lane for several hours on June 13 when an eastbound semi trailer came loose from a semi tractor and slid into the Dillons parking lot. The trailer, that was hauling a load of meat from a packing plant in Liberal, slid into the parking lot, went though landscaping and took out a city Big Well sign, said Kiowa County Undersheriff Scott McCann.

The driver of the semi, 43-year-old Grigor Bartia, and his passenger, 31-year-old Giorgi Jgheria, were not injured in the accident. The trailer didn’t hit any people or vehicles.

The 2019 Freightliner semi couldn’t reconnect to the trailer. Traffic was diverted around the semi for about three hours until a tow truck from Dodge City arrived and cleared the scene. The accident occurred at 9:48 a.m and was cleared by 1 p.m.

Several bystanders saw the accident occur but no one was injured. Damage to a rock-landscaped area was visible.
