On Feb. 4 the Maverick Forensics team earned 3rd place overall at the South Barber Invitational.

Individual results are as follows: Ben Stewart & Braiden Merhoff – 2nd Place, Improvisational Duet Acting; Ashlind Gumpenberger – 2nd Place, Extemporaneous Speaking; Alex Friesen – 6th Place, Prose; Jenner Little – 1st Place, Prose; Ben Stewart – 2nd Place, Prose; Izraylia Nichols – 6th Place, Poetry; McKelvie McMurry – 5th Place, Humorous Solo Acting; and Savanna Hall – 6th Place, Impromptu Speaking.

Also earning points toward the team total were Reid Rhodes, Cameron Conrad, Camden VandenHoek, Haleigh Raber, Kaleb Maggard, Alexa Sarber, Abby Scott, Ian Hess, and Brecken VandenHoek.

A few days later, the novice forensics students competed at the annual Kinsley Novice Tournament, taking 5th Place in Sweepstakes. Individually, Kellie Rhodes placed 5th in Prose and 1st in Original Oration; Jenna Morford took 6th in Prose; Seth Inderlied earned 6th Place in Impromptu; and Christen Osborn took 3rd Place in Serious Solo Acting and 5th Place in Informative Speaking.

Other Mavericks contributing to the team total were Koby West and Seth Lingafelter. Jackie Torres, LaChelle Tuttle, Alli Hosheit, and Savanna Hall participated as student judges for the event.

KC competes next at Meade on Feb. 16.

The team will be hosting the annual Maverick Nation Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 18, and the KC Novice Invitational on Thursday, Feb. 23.
