A USD 382 employee, Claudia Rodriguez-Oviedo, has been arrested for sending a threatening e-mail to the district.
A USD 382 employee has been arrested in connection with an e-mail threat against the school district earlier this week. Claudia Rodriguez-Oviedo, a 32-year-old employee of USD 382, was arrested Wednesday, Nov. 8 and placed in the Pratt County Jail, with no bond, on charges of aggravated criminal threat and computer unlawful acts, said Pratt Police Detective Jeff Ward.
The arrest came after a joint investigation with the Pratt Police Department, the Kansas Highway Patrol K-9 units and USD 382 school officials. Rodriguez-Oviedo was taken into custody without incident.
• Monday, Nov. 6, Pratt High School staff received a bomb threat from an unidentified person or persons through a fictitious e-mail account. School administrators contacted the Pratt Police Department to plan the evacuation of school students, staff and to cancel school events, Ward said.
• Tuesday, Nov. 7, Pratt Police Officers, with assistance from the Kansas Highway Patrol Troopers and their canine partners plus USD 382 staff, conducted a search of all USD 382 facilities. Following the search, offices determined there was no device as indicated by the e-mail.
• Wednesday, Nov. 8, acting on information obtained through a cooperative investigation by school officials and law enforcement officers Rodriguez-Oviedo was identified and taken into custody.
Rodriguez-Oviedo is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
