  • Rebels claim SPIAA boys regular season title

  • The South Gray Rebels completed their run to an unbeaten Southern Plains-Iroquois Activities Association regular season in league play Friday night with a 45-29 road victory over the Kiowa County Mavericks.
    The Rebels is usually known for their offense, but used a defensive stand to gain the road win over the Mavericks. South Gray led 13-7 after the opening quarter and 10-4 in the third quarter to seal the victory.
    Jake Peters scored 17 points to lead the Rebels (16-3) while Tate Skinner added 10 and Carson Skidmore eight in the victory.
    John Terhune scored nine points to lead Kiowa County (5-12).

    FOWLER — The Goldbugs overcame a 10-point halftime deficit to record the victory over the Royal Lancers in the first meeting since Spearville upset Fowler in the Southern Plains-Iroquois Activities Association tournament.
    Fowler outscored Spearville 21-13 in the third quarter and 23-17 in the final stanza to get the home victory at The Dome.
    Tate Shumard led the Goldbugs (15-3) with 16 points (with four 3-pointers), while Taylin Bird added 15 and Luke Huelskamp 13 in the victory. Fowler hit nine 3-pointers as a team in the victory.
    Kaden Stein had 20 points and Nathan Stein 19 to lead the Royal Lancers (11-6).

    JETMORE — The Longhorns led 32-13 at halftime and pushed the lead up to 31 by the end of the third quarter to record the SPIAA victory at home over the Red Aces.

    Brennan Harms scored 23 points (including seven 3-pointers) to lead the Longhorns (7-12), while Seth Shriwise added 10.

    Scout Frame and Katie Gleason scored four points to lead Kinsley (4-16). Kinsley made only seven field goals against the Central Plains defense in the loss.
