  • The St. John Tigers closed out their season picking up their seventh loss of the season.
The 9-0 Kiowa County Mavericks brought their trick or treat bags to St. John for the season finale, but with a 48-0 win over the Tigers there were very few treats getting passed out.
The undefeated mavericks scored early and they scored often against the Tigers.
Trevor Powell, senior, amassed 228 of the Mavericks 364 yards, and six of their seven touchdowns. Sophomores Dylan Jacks and Pancho Banman added the rest with Jacks picking up 72 yards on 8 carries and Banman getting 64 on five carries.
The Mavericks threw only one time when Banman hooked up with sophomore Erik Torres for 52 yards.
The power line of the Mavericks left St. John with few rushing opportunities and not many passing lanes.
The Tigers rushed for 24 yards on 15 attempts, and complete 2-3 passes for 11 yards.
Schuyler Brown rushed for 26 yards on nine carries. QB Jorge Calleros picked up 4 on five carries, but a negative six yards from Juan Neri Leon's only carry set the total forward progress at 24.
Nathan Ward caught the two passes one for six yards, one for just over five. He led the team in tackles with six solo and on assist.
Calleros had the longest gain of the night covering 19 yards on a kick return.
The Tigers end their season, but with nine wins the Mavericks will continue in post season play starting next week.
