Philadelphia abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell received his third life sentence today, according to the Associated Press. Gosnell was convicted of three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of three babies who were born alive and then killed at the clinic where Gosnell performed illegal late-term abortions. He received two life sentences yesterday in a deal that allowed him to avoid the death penalty. Gosnell also received another two and a half to five years in jail for the 2009 death of a patient from an anesthesia overdose. Federal drug charges are pending against Gosnell. Alleged prescription drug trafficking is what originally attracted the attention of federal agents and led to the discovery of the abortion clinic's ilegal practices.

The Army sergeant first class in the latest incident has not been named, but is being investigated for sexual assault, pandering, abusive sexual contact and maltreatment of subordinates.
