I can't believe it. Yes, I can believe it, because I am standing here looking at it. "It" being the horrible condition of the Greensburg streets.
I am not sure why the city council or city administrator wouldn't have done something to clean or improve the streets. The city administrator who was hired to take care of the city business isn't too well acquainted with the job description or doesn't care about what it is.
Our streets are important to us and to the welfare of the city.
When I came to Greensburg in 1966 the city had a three-man street crew, a road grader, a front-end loader and a couple of dump trucks. Main street and emergency lanes were open within 3-4 hours. The snow in the street was removed to a spot south of town within 12-24 hours.
That seems to be a far cry from what we have had this past week.
Thank you, Don Richards.
