  • The Kiowa County Mavericks (6-2) blew out the Attica Bulldogs (2-6) and invoked the 45-point rule on a calm night in Greensburg on Friday.
The Mavericks won the coin toss and took only :39 seconds or two carries to score the games first touchdown. The Bulldogs, with a short bench and some dishearted starters, played tough football, but were well over matched by a Mavericks team with equal parts talent and confidence.
The game was all but over at the end of the first quarter, with Head Coach Clint Young allowing some of the second string players to get time on the field.
Payton Miller saw some time and scored a TD in the second quarter.
Tucker McKinney invoked the 45-point rule after his two point conversion with 8:11 left in the second quarter.
The Mavericks finished the half with a score of 60-0.
The Mavericks will face a tough St.John Tigers next Thursday in Greensburg.
The results of the St.John Tigers vs. Fairfield Falcons game has yet to be reported, but a loss by The Tigers would bring both teams equal records (6-2). A Tigers win would but St.John up (7-1).
Kiowa County is ranked third in the Southern-Plains Iroquois standing behind Minneola (5-2 league) and Fowler (4-1 league).
