  • Arlene Marie Deighton, 81, died August 20, 2012 in the Kiowa County Memorial Hospital, Greensburg. She was born December 2, 1930 in Great Bend, Kansas, the daughter of Albert and Myrtle Ruth (McGinty) Van Winkle. She graduated from Radium High School. On November 26, 1947, Arlene married James E. Deighton and they lived in Larned, Kansas. James preceded her in death. She was a homemaker. After they moved to Greensburg, she worked as a clerk in the Kiowa County Clerk's office. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Greensburg. Arlene is survived by two sons Michael and wife Pat Deighton, New Port Richey, Florida, and Matt Deighton, Greensburg, two daughters Sheri and husband Jerry Beltz, Kingfisher, Oklahoma, and Lori and husband Larry Doyle, Okarche, Oklahoma, a brother Jim Van Winkle, Winfield, Kansas, a sister Alice Latas, Dodge City, Kansas, seven Grandchildren Daren and wife Shawna Beltz, Sterling, Kansas, Erica and husband Jacob Biswell, and Lance and wife April Doyle, all of Yukon, Oklahoma, Lacey Doyle, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Libby and husband Brian Rother, Kingfisher, Oklahoma, Lynne Deighton, New Port Richey, Florida, and  J.W. Deighton, Jacksonville, Florida, seven Great-grandchildren Mallory, Wyatt, and Lindsey Beltz, Mackenzie, Jacilyn and Joshua Biswell, and Jace Deighton. Arlene was also preceded in death by her parents, a Great-grandson Bishop Deighton, a brother Dr. T.D. Van Winkle,and a sister Margaret "Polly" Taylor. A funeral Mass and celebration of Arlene's life will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2012, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Greensburg, with Rev. Robert Schremmer officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Greensburg. A visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at the church followed by a vigil at 7:15 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Care and Share Store, both of Greensburg, in Care of Fleener Funeral Home, 514 S. Main St., Greensburg, Kansas, 67054.
