Elva LaVonne (Bevan) Stanfield, 99, died August 23, 2012 at Friendsview Retirement Community in Newberg, Oregon. She was born in Haviland, Kansas on November 25, 1912, to Arthur B. and Madge (Woodward) Bevan.
She graduated from Haviland Friends Academy in 1931. There she met Warren Edgar Stanfield, whom she married on August 25, 1932. They were blessed with two children: Ada Marcile and Jerry Warren. She was a long-time resident of Haviland, where she was active in Haviland Friends Church and the Barclay Ladies Auxiliary. She also enjoyed painting, quilting, following sports, and gatherings with family. She moved to Newberg, Oregon in 1998. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, brother Herman and his wife Lavonia, sister Ada LaRue Sneed and her husband Raymond, and son-in-law David M. Leach. Survivors include children, Marcile (Robert) Crandall and Jerry (Joyce) Stanfield, her husband’s siblings Forrest Stanfield, Mildred Sherbondy, and Marvel (Lawrence) Hull, 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held this November in Haviland. Memorials may be made to Haviland Friends Church and Barclay College.
