Phyllis Lucille Brown, 86, died July 22, 2012 at Pratt Regional Medical Center, Pratt, Kansas. She was born September 24, 1925, in rural Kiowa County, Kansas, the daughter of Orville and Bessie Mable (Young) Ward. A lifetime Kiowa County resident, Phyllis graduated from Coldwater High School and earned a Business Degree at Brown Mackie Business College, Salina. She was employed by the ASCS office in Greensburg, retiring after 35 years of service. Phyllis was a member of the Greensburg Christian Church, the Order of the Eastern Star- Star of Hope chapter #193, Kiowa County Senior Center, where she served as Treasurer many years and the Big Well Campers Club, all of Greensburg. On July 29, 1945, Phyllis married Avery F. Brown in Kiowa County. He preceded her in death December 29, 1981. She is survived by one daughter Marilyn Yohn and husband Gene, Greensburg, four Grandchildren, seven Great-grandchildren, and two Great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Carol Wright, one Grandchild, a brother James Ward, and two sisters Marjorie Hill and Joyce Thronesbery. Funeral services and celebration of Phyllis' life was held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012, at the Greensburg Christian Church, Greensburg, with Pastor T.J. Lawson officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery, Greensburg. A visitation was held 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
