While I am aware that many hours of hard work and preparation have gone into planning the May 5th weekend events, I also must wonder if I there are others who share my sentiment of not feeling the need to celebrate the anniversary of the tornado with the rest of the world?
In my opinion, the May 4th date should be reserved for a quiet, community memorial for those who lost their lives in the tornado and to remember what it was that got us through those very difficult first days: The good Lord and fellowship in the big yellow tent.
Again, not to take away from any of the work that has been done but ... I take this weekend very personal and do not feel the need to promote the weekend as a tourist event. This community has 364 other days that we can promote our community and the many great achievements we have made over the past 5 years, let's consider saving May 4th for a quiet community remembrance.
