Carl Dean Wingfield, 83, died April 22, 2012 at the Kiowa County Memorial Hospital, Greensburg, Kansas. He was born June 22, 1928 in Haviland, Kansas, the son of Grover and Addie L. (Rose) Wingfield. He was a farmer and salesman. Carl graduated from Centerview High School, Centerview, Kansas, in 1946. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard, a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Carl had lived in Haviland, Big Bow, Kansas, Edwards County, Mullinville and Greensburg. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Star of Hope chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, and the Kiowa Masonic Lodge, all of Greensburg. On July 25, 1946, Carl married Marcea Brown in Lewis, Kansas. She preceded him in death August 13, 2004. He is survived by two sons George and wife Lila Wingfield, Hill City, Kansas, and Larry and wife Barbara Wingfield, Wichita, Kansas, nine Grandchildren and twenty-three Great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a grandchild Tristan Bender, a brother Vern and a sister Darlene Ball. Funeral services and celebration of Carl's life were held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church, Greensburg, with Pastor Terry Mayhew officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Greensburg. A visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
