The city of Greensburg has announced a tree planting ceremony for April 13 and 14 at the Big Well museum construction site.
As part of winning the Siemens sustainability award last year, the city received $20,000 in new trees, which will be planted by volunteers during the two-day ceremony.
The event will open on Friday April 13 at 9 a.m. with remarks from Mayor Bob Dixson, a representative from Siemens and remarks from the Greensburg Tree Board and others.
The Greensburg Tree Board, headed by local judge Ann Dixson recommended the Big Well as the site for the trees, which she says, will be a variety of species that are suited to the climate.
“Anyone form the community can volunteer, it will be a nice day,” said Dixson. “Planting these trees will bring beauty to the community for years to come.”
