  • Last Tuesday former Greensburg City Administrator Steve Hewitt commented on the progress of the BTI / Greensburg sewer line from his office in Clinton, Ark. where he works as the city administrator.
“I’m happy it’s getting done,” said Hewitt. “That’s why we developed that [industrial] park, to get businesses in and I’m glad the sewer line deal is finally getting finished.”
Hewitt commented that the BTI deal was one of the projects he had hoped to finish before he left, but was unable to do so. He said he has been following the deal and has spoke to Interim City Administrator Jay Newton on a couple of occasion to offer his advice, should Newton need it. “Jay’s a great guy, I’m glad he’s been able to approach this deal.” Hewitt said that he was unable to comment on specifics of the deal because executive session rules prevented him from doing so, but said he had a number of discussions with city council members, the mayor and BTI in closed session during the initial phase of discussions about the sewer line, the Greensburg Industrial Park and BTI’s annexation.
