Obituary: Kenneth McMahon

GREENSBURG—Kenneth R. McMahon passed away on February 9, 2020 at Ascension Via Christi – St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas of cardiac arrest. Ken was born September 20, 1953 to Robert and Anna Marie (Kelly) McMahon in Brooklyn, New York. After living in Queens, New York as a child, his parents moved to Long Island, New York where Ken graduated from Port Jefferson High School in 1971. He attended Hunter College and studied sports broadcasting and business. Ken spent over 30 years as a liquids distribution manager in the propane industry. He met his wife, Shannan, in Bridgehampton, New York in April of 2006. They were married in a garden ceremony at the home of her parents, Serena Seacat and George Ryan, in East Hampton, New York on September 12, 2010. They lived in Manorville, New York and worked together until October, 2013 when Ken retired to Greensburg, Kansas to fulfill his wife’s lifelong wish to return to her childhood summer home. Ken’s passions in life were reading, sports, rescuing animals and spending time with his beloved wife. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Anna Marie McMahon. Survivors include: his wife Shannan; Stepmother, Anita McMahon; three stepsons, Michael Miller and wife Amanda, James Miller and wife Jennifer and Tucker Miller and wife Melissa; three step-granddaughters, Abigail, Kaitlyn and Juniper Miller; three step-grandsons, Neison, Hunter and Thoreau Miller; Mother-inlaw, Serena Seacat and Father-in-law, George Ryan, and many cherished cousins. With respect for Ken’s wishes, there will be a private Memorial celebrating his life at a later date.
