Obituary: Dixie Woodward
Haviland- Dixie Lee Woodward, 83, died December 31, 2019 at Hill Top House, Bucklin, Kansas. She was born October 26, 1936 in Haviland Kansas, the daughter of Vern and Inez (McMullen) Woodward. She graduated from Akron High School. She had lived in Haviland, Larned, and Halstead, Kansas. As a young adult she played basketball, tennis and softball and was talented in every one. Dixie was a Licensed Mental Health Technician and CNA for 35 years. She spent her life working in the healthcare field with the focus in Psychiatric Medicine. From Larned to Topeka, Great Bend, Hutchinson and Halstead, she shared her gift of caring for others. Dixie loved her family. Being a big sister to R.D., Jan and Jean prepared her to be the natural caretaker she was. During most of her adult life, Dixie also lived with and cared for her mother Inez, until her death in 1989. While Dixie did not have children of her own, she dearly loved her nieces, Desiree, Jeana, Jana and Jody. They dearly loved her cheerful laugh and warm hugs. Dixie loved old movies and music and spent hours listening to both. Her faith was strong, and she longed to see the Lord. She is truly home now. She is survived by a sister Jan Clemensen, four nieces Desiree Crisp (David), Jeana Clark (Cletis), Jana Bohling, and Jody Miller (Shawn). She is preceded in death by her father and her mother Inez Quick, brother R.D. Woodward and sister Jean Fast. Funeral services and celebration of Dixie’s life will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2020 in the Haviland Friends Church, Haviland with Pastor David Crisp presiding. Burial will follow in Haviland Cemetery, Haviland. Memorials are suggested to the Iroquois Center for Human Development, Greensburg, in care of Fleener Funeral Home, PO Box 41, Greensburg, KS 67054-0041.
