Pratt - Doris Jean Brown, 91, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Pratt Regional Medical Center. She was born on December 8, 1929 on a farm in Utopia, Kansas to Floyd and Marguerite (Little) Worley. Jean married Don Eugene Brown on November 22, 1950 in Wichita. He preceded her in death on May 19, 2011.

She attended school at Fairview Elementary and graduated from Eureka High School. She graduated from Kansas State College with a degree in Industrial Chemistry. She commuted to Wichita State and earned a Master's degree in Math Education. She taught at Cheney High School, Russville while Don attended law school in Topeka, and Council Grove while Don worked in a local law firm. They moved to Pratt in 1955 where she gave Red Cross Swim lesson and taught half days for sixth grade at Haskins Elementary for 2 years. She then taught at Pratt Middle School and Pratt High School until her retirement in 1989. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Prayer Circle, American Association of University Women, Pratt Library Board, and Investment Club. She volunteered at PRMC, Red Cross, Food Bank and RSVP. She enjoyed playing bridge, golf, and tennis, bowling, gardening, reading, tutoring her grandchildren and other students in math, and doing crosswords.

She is survived by her children, Stephen Worley Brown of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jeffrey Scott Brown of Pittsburgh, and Nancy Louise (Steve) Brown-McClain of Pratt; sister in-law, Lois Worley of Chanute; grandchildren, Casey Brown of Chicago, Illinois, Marshall Brown of Mesa, Arizona, Floyd Jaggy and Nancy Brown-Jaggy both of California, Austin (Heather) McClain, Lauren McClain, and Julieann McClain all of Pratt; and great-grandchild, Lukas Scott McClain with another on the way.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Eugene Brown; daughter, Donna Jean Brown-Jaggy; and brothers, Howard Worley and Warren Worley.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at First United Methodist Church, Pratt with Pastor Nicole Schwartz-Eck presiding. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt.

Memorials may be made to PRMC, Pratt Public Library or First United Methodist Church in care of Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt.
