Woman arrested in connection with stabbing
TOPEKA — A 34-year-old was behind bars in the Shawnee County Jail on Friday after a man suffered critical injuries in a stabbing Thursday morning at a southeast Topeka mobile home park, authorities said.
Topeka police arrested Tiffany Ann Riley on Thursday, and she was booked into jail in connection with aggravated domestic battery. No bond had been set pending her first appearance before a Shawnee County District Court judge on Friday morning.
The stabbing was reported at 9:37 a.m. Thursday at a residence at 752 S.E. Ridgeview Drive. The location was on the northeast side of the Ridgewood Estates mobile home park, about two blocks south of S.E. 37th and Adams.
Police who responded to the scene found a man suffering from life-threatening injuries. Initial reports indicate the man had been stabbed in the neck.
The man, Michael Ortiz, 34, was transported by American Medical Response ambulance to a Topeka hospital. Gretchen Koenen, Topeka police spokeswoman, said Ortiz is expected to survive.
Koenen added that Riley and Ortiz were known to each other.
