Kiowa County football defeated Minneola 52-6 on August 31.
The Kiowa County football team played Minneola at home on August 31, easily sweeping the win with a score of 52-6.
At the end of the first quarter, Kiowa was in the lead 14-0 with #8, Cale Thompson, running 45 yards to score a touchdown and #4 A J Owens running 17 yards for a touchdown; There was a successful two-point conversion pass by Thompson to #12 Brandon Boyles.
By the end of the first half, Kiowa had scored an additional 16 points, bringing the score to 30-0; Owens ran 15-yards for the touchdown and there was a successful two-point conversion pass from Thompson to #16 Rhylan Tedder.
Thompson had a pass to Owens for 31 yards, scoring a touchdown, and there was a successful two- point conversion run by #6 Gage McDonald.
The Mavericks scored 14 more points by the end of the third quarter with Thompson having a pass complete to McDonald for a 15-yard touchdown and then McDonald ran 23 yards for a touchdown.
Braiden Merhoff had a two-point conversion run, bringing the score to 44-0.
Minneola scored 6 points by the end of the fourth with a pass complete from #12 Brayton Dewell to #69 Collin Berger for a 9-yard touchdown, bringing the score to 44-6.
Kiowa finished the fourth quarter with another touchdown--a 34- yard run from #18 Koby West and a two-point conversion run from James Brack, #44, bringing the final score to 52-6.
The Mavericks will play Skyline in an away game on September 7.
