The victim of a fatal shooting in Seward on Aug. 28 has been identified as Adrianne Martin, 35 of Seward.

A Seward woman was killed Tuesday and a man injured in a shooting incident in Seward on Aug. 28. Killed in the shooting was 35-year-old Adrianne Martin of Seward. A male suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound in the incident, according to a press release from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

At 9:49 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28, Stafford County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call and was dispatched to 519 Seward Avenue to the report of a shooting at that residence. Upon arrival, they discovered a female with gunshot wounds and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Martin and the male, also discovered at the scene, were acquaintances. At 9:55 a.m. the Stafford County Sheriff's Office requested assistance from the KBI that responded with special agents and the Crime Scene Response Team.

The injured man was transported to a local hospital and his name in not being released at this time. There is no indication of any threat to the public as a result of this incident. A Stafford County Deputy reported that a suspect had been apprehended.

An autopsy will be conducted.

This is an ongoing investigation and no further information will be released at this time, according to the KBI press release.

Seward has a population of about 60 and is located 11 miles north and three west of St. John.
