The Twilight Theatre will present a free showing of the comedy film, "Idiocracy," at 7 p.m. tonight as part of its Films4Good series.
A 20 to 30 minute discussion will immediately follow the screening. The audience is encouraged to stay and participate or observe. There will also be a celebration of projectionist Mike McBeath’s birthday.
In the film, Private Joe Bauers, the definition of "average American," is selected by the Pentagon to be the guinea pig for a top-secret hibernation program. Forgotten, he awakes five centuries in the future. He discovers a dystopian society where advertising, commercialism and cultural anti-intellectualism have run rampant and is devoid of intellectual curiosity, social responsibility and coherent notions of justice and human rights.
The film is rated R for language and sex related humor.
