Reba Harmon dead at 83

SOUTH HUTCHINSON – Reba I. Harmon, 83, died August 29, 2010 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus. She was born December 7, 1926 in Loveland, CO to Albert Russell and Beulah Edna Curtis Thompson.
 
On June 3, 1945, she married Ned G. Harmon in Baca County, Colorado. They were residents of Haviland from 1958 until they moved to South Hutchinson in 2006. Ned died June 22, 2007. Reba was a member of the Friends Church, Haviland, where she was very involved in activities.
 
Reba was a nurse assistant and ward clerk at Kiowa County Hospital and a cook and housekeeper at Barclay College, Haviland. Reba and Ned volunteered at Barclay College and were awarded Volunteers of the Year awards.
 
Survivors include two sons, Dean Harmon (Becky), Sterling and Earl Harmon, Odem, TX; four daughters, Maxine Cook (Gaylord), Hutchinson, Wanda Childs (Steve), Sterling, Vivian Thompson (Dan), Gardner, and Sheila Clark (Woody), Rose Hill; three brothers, Wayne Quick, Neal and Steve Harmon; two sisters, Norma Rosengrants and Marie Brandt, all of Colorado; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, her adoptive parents, Walter and Bessie Harmon, two sisters and a brother.
 
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Friends Church, Haviland with Pastor Gary D. Getting officiating. Burial will be in Haviland Community Cemetery. Friends may sign the book from 9-9 Tuesday and Wednesday with the family to receive friends from 6-7 Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary.
