Derby – Esslinger, Merle J., age 67, loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle passed away Sunday, July 25, 2010. Merle was born to Merlin and Lois Esslinger in Concordia, KS on April 19, 1943. He graduated from Mullinville High School in 1961 and in May of 1964 he married Elizabeth Wheeler. Merle retired as a Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force in 1984. He then went on to work for Famous Brands, Biz Mart and Steven Motors. He was preceded in death by his father, Merlin Esslinger; son, Michael Esslinger; brother, Gary Esslinger. Merle is survived by his mother, Lois (Eddie) Esslinger-Stroyek; wife of 46 years, Elizabeth; daughters, Pam (Ralph) Millershaski, Sandi Esslinger; grandsons, Calvin Esslinger, Dean Millershaski, Ryan Millershaski, Weston Millershaski; granddaughter, Miranda Albright; brother, Bob Esslinger; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation 1-8pm Friday with family present 5-7pm; funeral service 10am Saturday both at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Road, Derby. Interment 4pm Saturday Fairview Cemetery, Greensburg, KS.
