Johnny Cochran dies at 82

Johnny L. Cochran, 82, of South Hutchinson. passed away August 6, 2008 at Hospice House in Hutchinson. A SO year resident of Greensburg, he was most recently of Reflection Village of Mennonite Manor.

Johnny was born January 8, 1926 in Jerome, Arizona, the son of John E. and Selma Lesher Cocham. He graduated from Ford High School in 1943 and attended the University of Kansas before being called to serve his country in the U.S. Army in World War II. where he served in the 76 Infantry Division.

At his side were his loving wife of 58 years, Janet Snodgrass Cochran, and his daughters Cary Jones and Stacy Imel. Johnny·s family also includes sons-in-law Albert ImeJ. and John Mitchell; Granddaughters Ashli Miller and Tenley Wallace; StepGrandsons Matthew and Joshua Imel; and Great Grandchildren Sadie Miller, Tagen Wallace, and Mcnitt and Senne Imel.

Johnny owned and operated Cochran Oil Company in Greensburg. He was a member of the Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department, Kiowa Lodge 1# 293 A.F. &. A.M., V.F.W. Post #6156, and American Legion Post #01 OJ, all of Greensburg. and the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church.

Johnny loved his family and his country and ~oyed fishing, golf, camping, and traveling. Favorite trips included a tour of the battlefields of Europe, with members of the 76th Infantry Div. to places where they fought. In 2000. the family vacationed in Hawaii to celebrate Johnny and Janet's 50th Wedding anniversary.

Memorial service will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, August 8, 2008 at the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, with Pastor Tim Ault-Duell presiding. A Graveside inumment service will held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, August 18 at the Fairview Cemetery in Greensburg.

Memorial contributions may be given to Twilight Theater and the Avenue of Flags of Fairview Cemetery, both of Greensburg. Hutchinson arrangements handled by Elliott Mortuary in Hutchinson and Greensburg anangemcnts by Fleener Funeral Home in Greensburg.
