Winifred W. "Winnie" Brown, 88, died August 6, 2008 at Reno County Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born March 19, 1920 at Haviland, KS the daughter of William and Lillian (Goodman) Horner. A resident of Hutchinson, she was formerly of Haviland, Greensburg and Mullinville. She was a 1938 graduate of Haviland High School. After graduation she worked at Haviland State Bank, and was later the City Clerk at Mullinville. She was a member of the Greensburg United Methodist Church, Greensburg. On June 1, 1946 she married Sam Brown at Haviland. He died December 24, 1983.
Survivors include a son Murray Brown and wife Linda, Gallatin, TN; a daughter Judy Hook and husband Doug, Wichita, KS; a brother Harold Horner, Bucklin, KS; a sister Thelma Rinehart, Greensburg, five granddaughters, Colleen Gingrich and husband Jeff, Shawnee, KS; Jennifer Pensler and husband Jake, and Julie Brown, all of Huntersville, NC; Lindsay Hook, and Kisten Hook, both of Wichita, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Dorothy Graham.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday August 9, 2008 at Haviland United Methodist Church, Haviland with Reverend Tim Ault-Duell presiding. Burial will follow in the Haviland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday August 8, 2008 at the church.
