Nora Darlene Woods, 71, was born in Abilene Kansas to Ernest Harrison Cole and Cora (Van Ness) Cole on January 24, 1937 and died suddenly in her home in Hermitage Missouri on July 21, 2008.
She was raised and attended school in Salina. Darlene worked for many years in food service and catering and was well known for her custom wedding cakes.
 
Darlene was married to Ron Woods in Salina on June 30,1990. The couple moved to the Ozarks in Missouri in 1999 and she thoroughly enjoyed living on the lake and doing her crafts and sharing her gourmet cooking. Darlene was known as the Martha Stewart of the neighborhood.
 
Darlene is survived by her husband, Ron, three sons; Everett Dale Gebhardt Jr, of Waterbury, CT, William Ray Whitaker, Salina, and William D. Woods of Highland Ranch, Colorado; five daughters, Jodi Hoffman of Glenville, NC, Linda Russell and Brenda McCreary both of Salina, Pam Olney, Winfield, Belinda Proctor of Manhattan, one brother; Ernest Cole, Salina, three sisters; Betty Rice, Tenino, WA, Cora Short and Helen Sims both of Salina and 16 grandchildren.
 
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2008 at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th, Salina, Ks.  67401. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24th at the mortuary. Burial will be at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina, Kansas. The family suggests memorials to the American Lung Association in care of the funeral home.
