Phyllis E. Schmidt, 76, died January 13, 2010 at St. Francis, Wichita. She was born April 17, 1933, in Manson, Iowa the daughter of Emery and Edna Peterson Egli. She attended Hesston College and then graduated in 1955 from LaJunta Mennonite School of Nursing , LaJunta, CO, as a Registered Nurse. She was a former resident of Greensburg, Rocky Ford, CO and Middlebury, IN, moving in 2008 to an apartment at Mennonite Manor, South Hutchinson. Phyllis attended South Hutchinson Mennonite Church.
On August 17, 1955 she married Kenneth H. Schmidt in Manson, Iowa. He survives.
Other survivors include; son, Arlin Schmidt and wife Stephanie of Basking Ridge, NJ, daughters, Rita Martin and husband Bryan of Kansas City, MO, Nancy Magliery and husband Mark of Denver, CO, Susan Funk and husband Clif of Hutchinson, brothers, Ken Egli and wife Judy and Harris Egli all of Barnum, IA and 7 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Tom Egli.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday January 18th at Yoder Mennonite Church Cemetery with a Memorial Service to follow at 11 a.m. at South Hutchinson Mennonite Church. Friends may call 9 – 9 Sunday with family to receive friends from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary. Memorials may be made to Mennonite Manor or the Mennonite Central Committee in care of the mortuary.
