Sutton funeral Wednesday

Hutchinson (Greensburg) – Roddy Dale Sutton, 61, passed away on July 20, 2008 at the Hospice House of Reno County.  Rod was born in Pratt, Kansas, October 23, 1946, the son of Bill and Hollis Hodges Sutton.
   He grew up in Greensburg and graduated from Greensburg High School in 1964 and then Fort Hays State in 1968, earning a B.S. in Secondary Education.
   On January 21, 1967, he married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Harris.  Rod taught business at Hutchinson High School from 1968 – 1975.  He served as vice-president of the Hutchinson Credit Union from 1975 – 1980.  In 1980, they moved back to Greensburg where the bought the Western Auto Store and later True Value Hardware and Lumber Yard.
   He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Greensburg, Chamber of Commerce, the Twilight Theater board and the Lions Club.  Rod proudly served on the Greensburg volunteer fire department and as an EMT for Kiowa County EMS.
   He was preceded in death by his mother, Hollis Sutton.
   Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Sutton of Hutchinson; father Bill Sutton and wife, Sharon; two sons, Mike Sutton and wife, Jessica of Hutchinson and Jon Sutton, of Banff Alberta, Canada; daughter, Kara Sutton of Hutchinson; brother, Rick Sutton and wife, Cindy of McPherson; sister, Barbara Ballard and husband, Larry, of Hutchinson; granddaughters, Aryca and Danyka Sutton of Hutchinson.
   Services will be July 23, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Mullinville with Rev. Jeffrey D. Blackburn presiding.  Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery of Greensburg.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 -7 p-.m. at the church.
