Tim Smith funeral Monday

  Timothy Lewis Smith, 45, passed away Friday, May 14, 2010, at his residence in Coldwater, Kansas.  Born January 23, 1965, at Tahlequah, Oklahoma, he was the son of Robert and Vivian (Chafin) Smith.

                Tim was proud to be an enrolled citizen of the Great Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.  He was a resident of Coldwater, Kansas, moving there in 2007 from Greensburg, Kansas, previously living in numerous places following his work as a Paramedic and E.M.S. Director for many tribal agencies.  He graduated from College High School in Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 1983, and received certification as a paramedic in Tulsa, Ok.  He was a Nationally Registered Paramedic and received many awards for his service.  He was a past member and executive director of National Native American E.M.S. Association and past president of Oklahoma National Native American E.M.S. Association.  He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Bartlesville, Ok.

                On March 18, 1996, he married Jeri McCarty at Miami, Ok.  She survives.

                He is survived by his wife: Jeri Smith of Coldwater, Kansas; his father: Robert Smith of Dewey, Ok.; his mother Vivian Smith of Bartlesville, Ok.; one daughter: Shayanne of Coldwater, Ks.; two sons: Jonathan of Wichita, Ks., and Matthew and wife Maryanne of Liberty, Mo.; one brother: Terry LaDell Smith of Santa Fe, NM; one sister:  Linda Tate and husband Robert of Newkirk, Ok.; five grandchildren: Isabella, Jackson, Forrest, Alex, and Kylar; and two nephews: Nicholas and Cade.

                He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his birth mother: Joyce Ballard; his birth grandmother: Jennie Grimmett; and his birth great-grandparents: Jess and Laura Grimmett.

                A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 17, 2010, at the First Baptist Church in Greensburg, Ks.  There will be a funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Bartlesville, Ok.

                Burial is in the Dewey Cemetery in Dewey, Ok.
