Mullinville—Samuel P Poljansek, 60, died Tuesday, August 11, 2009. A 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force Poljansek was born in Dickinson, North Dakota January 30, 1949 and married Sandra Birtsch July 16, 2002. Poljansek had resided in Mullinville the past 21 years, working as a self-employed service technician.
Surviving him are his wife, Sandra, one stepson Ray Shelton, one stepdaughter Terri Shelton and two stepgranddaughters, Katie and Dani Hurley, three brothers: Anton, Andrew and Daniel; and five sisters: Frances Kraft, Agnes Peterson, Carol Besselievre, Kathryn Donner, and Theresa Kinnard; and many nieces and nephews.
Poljansek was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Antonia Rose (Dacar) Poljansek, three infant brothers, two brothers-in-law; Tollof Peterson and Michael Kinnard and one nephew, Mark Besselievre.
A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, August 14 at 1 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery of Mullinville, with Pastor Morita Truman officiating. Military rites will be by Julius F. Troehmel # 269 of Bucklin. Memorials are suggested to the Mullinville Volunteer Fire Dept, c/o Minnis Mortuary, Box 516, Bucklin, KS 67834.
