Mullinville—Warren E. Becklund, 87, died at his residence in Mullinville Monday, June 9, 2008.  He’d been a resident of the small western Kiowa County town since 1987.
   A retired manufacturing engineer, Becklund was born December 27, 1920 in Almont, North Dakota to Nels and Beatrice (Williams) Becklund.  He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps.  He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church of Pratt and a member of the American Legion.
  On July 6, 1973 he married Gloria Thompson in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Gloria, as well as two sons—Grant and Paul Becklund—survives him, as well as stepsons Ronald Carlow and George Rowand, and a stepdaughter, Fairolyn Nesuita.  Three brothers, Wayne, Thorton and Roger Becklund, and a sister, Eileen Friberg, and nine grandchildren also survive him.  He precedes his parents and a daughter, Gail, in death.
   Memorial services for Becklund will be Friday, June 13, 11 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pratt, Rev. Timothy J Henning officiating.  There will be no visitation, in lieu of cremation.  Memorials are suggested to Our Savior Lutheran Church, or to Southwind Hospice, care of Minnis Mortuary, PO Box 516, Bucklin, KS  67834.
