Leland Earl 'Lee' Spivey, 93, of Hutchinson, died Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born January 30, 1924, in Garfield Township, Ottawa County, to Louis Stanton and Evelyn Mae (Murdick) Spivey.

Leland Earl 'Lee' Spivey, 93, of Hutchinson, died Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born January 30, 1924, in Garfield Township, Ottawa County, to Louis Stanton and Evelyn Mae (Murdick) Spivey.
Lee grew up in and around Minneapolis, Kansas, and graduated from Minneapolis High School. He worked most of his life as a traveling salesman in whole foods. Lee retired as a salesman for Detroiter Mobile Homes, after 20 years of service, where he won many awards for his sales efforts. Lee was a master wood carver.
Lee was a life member of the NRA and a member of the Scottish Rite and Midian Shrine Temple, both of Wichita, Hutchinson-Reno Masonic Lodge #124 A.F. & A.M., and South Hutchinson United Methodist Church.
On October 15, 1970, he married Ruth (Smith) Spaniol at the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church. They shared 46 years of marriage. She survives.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2017, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Claire Gadberry officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, with Masonic Rites conducted by the Hutchinson-Reno Masonic Lodge #124 A.F. & A.M. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, with the family to receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Memorials may be made to the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church or Hutchinson-Reno Masonic Lodge #124 A.F. & A.M., in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
