The Kiowa County Mavericks won their fifth straight contest on Tuesday night against the Fowler Goldbugs in league play at the SPIAA League Tournament in Fowler 52-49.

The win brings the Mavericks up the league standings and will put them in the semi-final match against Bucklin or Ashland on Friday Jan. 27 at the United Wireless Arena in Dodge City.  At press time Mavericks head coach Nick Perez reported that Ashland was winning handily and with that win, the Mavs would face the undefeated Blue Jays on Friday at 8 p.m.
