Four area high school grads were recognized the evening of May 19 as recipients of a renewable $1,000 scholarship from the local American Petroleum Institute, held at a dinner at the Stone Ridge Golf Course. Speaker for the evening was James Loving, President of NCRA.
Receiving the scholarships were Katlin Senst, 2010 graduate of Greensburg High. Senst graduated with a 3.94 GPA and 24 ACT score. She plans on attending Fort Hays State University this fall to major in accounts.
Also receiving scholarships were Devin H offman of Claflin High, who will also attend FHSU to major in physics and pre-engineering. The third recipient was Brett Lyman of Wllinwood. HE will attend KSU to major in pre-med. The fourth was Damon Rea of Great Bend who will attend KU to major in chemistry.
The scholarships were possible due to the sponsorship of the API golf tournament held each September and donated by the oil and gas related companies of the area.
