Robin Way Johnston (79) went home to Jesus on January 26, 2017. He died unexpectedly in Wichita, KS where he had been living with his daughter and son in law.
Born August 30, 1937, Robin grew up on the (Way-Johnston) family farm in northeast Nebraska and came to Haviland in 1956 to attend Friends Bible College (now Barclay College). This was the start of a life long love for and commitment to the college, and where he met his wife, Janet (Henshaw).
Robin touched many lives over the years as he served as a pastor in Colorado, Oregon, South Dakota, Kansas and California. He taught at Barclay College for 25 years and was President there for 10 years, influencing and impacting hundreds of student's lives and their ministries. Robin was a man of great faith, believed in the power of prayer, and always had a positive attitude toward life.
Robin leaves behind four daughters who loved him and will miss his wisdom, humor, and joy for life. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Janet (Henshaw) Johnston; his parents Roy and Frances (Way) Johnston; and his three brothers: Willard, Warren and Wesley.
Robin is survived by his daughters: Esther (Gaylen) Kinser, Paonia, CO; Ruth (Charles) Binford, Wichita, KS; Rachel McLaughlin, Claremore, OK; Sarah (Steve) Armendariz, Rancho Santa Fe, CA; eleven grandchildren: Randy (Jessica), Kenneth (Mallory) and Chris (Laura) Kinser; Seth (Kim) and Joel (Sara) Binford; Aaron (Erika) and Nathan McLaughlin; Anastasia, Caleb, Elijah and Josiah Armendariz; nine great grandchildren: Connor, Kameron, Willow, Noah, Arella, Owen, Leah, Vivian, and Israel; and numerous much loved nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will take place Saturday, February 11th at 1:30 pm at Haviland Friends Church, in Haviland, KS. A time to greet the family will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
