Immediately following the total destruction of the Cody West family’s farmhouse, Haley Kern helped to organize a benefit concert to raise money for the West family.

Last Saturday local favorites Retroactive played classic rock tunes to a room full of West family supporters, friends and family inside the community building.

“Gee whiz what can I say,” said RetroActive frontman Troy Kirby. “Their house burns to the ground, I just can’t imagine what it’s like losing everything in an instant. It’s the least we could do. Haley asked me shortly after it happened. We brainstormed some ideas and we came up with [the concert]. I said ‘sure, just tell me when and where.’”

Organizer Kern reported on Monday that the benefit had raised $1,241 for the West family.
