RetroActive raises $1200 for West family with benefit concert

Immediately following the total destruction of the Cody West family’s farmhouse, Haley Kern helped to organize a benefit concert to raise money for the West family.

Kinsley Public Library to host Let’s Talk About It: Making Sense of the American Civil War reading and discussion series

The Kinsley Public Library will host a free five-part reading and discussion series called “Let’s Talk About It: Making Sense of the American Civil War.” The library is one of only 65 public libraries nationwide receiving grants to host the series developed by the American Library Association and the National Endowment for the Humanities.  It is the only Kansas venue for the series.

The Barclay College “Christmas Pageant,” a bi-annual theatrical telling of the birth of Jesus Christ, entertained audiences for another year. Attendees from all over the county and Kansas flocked to Hockett Auditorium for the winter event that features singing, live animals and a smidge of comic relief.

Last Thursday night members of the Kiowa County High School Drama club presented a 40-minute performance, of the one-act play “Cricket County Academy” written by high school drama teacher turned playwright Eddie McPherson, to a packed house of family and friends inside the Mullinville School auditorium.

The sharp bite of an approaching Kiowa County winter couldn’t keep the estimated 150 -175 area residents, students and faculty members from attending Monday night’s Campus of Light on the Barclay College campus.

Home Tours for lookie loo's and neighbors alike

On Sunday evening, four Greensburg families will open their homes to area guests and help raise funds for the Twilight Theater. The “Holiday Homes Tour,” a pre-tornado tradition, is part of the Christmas on Main Street celebration that is being held this weekend.
