  • Lady Aces beat Ashland to take control of SPIAA

  • The Bucklin Lady Aces took another huge step towards claiming the Southern Iroquois Activities Association girls regular season title Friday night with a 49-36 road victory over the Ashland Lady Bluejays. After taking a one-point lead after the opening quarter, Bucklin built the margin up to 20-14 by intermission. The Lady Aces extended the lead to double digits by the end of the third quarter to claim the victory. Bucklin has victories over four of the other teams in the league before the tournament, beating Spearville, South Central and Ingalls in previous contests. Morgan Hood scored 17 to lead the Lady Aces, while Long added 11 (nine in the first half), and Caitlin Demoret and Janae Price recorded 10 apiece in the win (Price scoring all of her points in the second half). Vanessa Caro scored 16 points to lead Satanta, while Valerie Caro added 12 in the loss. The two teams will meet in the quarterfinals of the league tournament on Tuesday in Sublette.
