  • Taylin Bird QB-DB, Fowler Bird threw for 1,594 yards and 33 touchdowns and rushed for nine more scores in leading the Goldbugs offense. Bird also had four interceptions on defense for Fowler. Dalton Burkhard, K, Dodge City Burkhard was again selected as the first team kicker in the Western Athletic Conference. He broke the record for longest field goal (51 yards) and finished his career with the record for field goals (26) and points after touchdowns (146). Ty Clark WR-LB, Fowler Clark caught 20 touchdowns passes as he is on the All-Area team for the second straight season. He also led the Goldbugs in tackles (109) and interceptions (5). Morgan Davis, TE-LB, Meade Davis had 46 tackles on defense for the Buffaloes and also caught for 495 yards and six touchdowns for Meade as a senior. Caleb Fischer, QB-DB, Cimarron Fischer returned from injury to lead the Bluejays' offense this season. He threw for 1,600 yards and 23 touchdowns in his final prep football campaign. Christian Fischer, WR-DB, Cimarron Fischer caught 14 touchdown passes and earned 780 yards in his final season for the Bluejays. Brennan Harms, OL-LB, Hodgeman County Harms was one of the anchors on the Longhorns' offensive line that helped the team go to the Eight-Man Division I state championship. Jacob Harshberger, OL-DL, Dodge City Harshberger anchored the Red Demons offensive and defensive lines during his senior season. He was an honorable mention in the Western Athletic Conference teams. Alex Kreger, QB-DB, Hodgeman County Kreger ran for 1,783 yards and 32 touchdowns and finished with 2,423 total yards for the Longhorns this season. He also had 61 tackles this season. Jett Little, QB-DB, Meade Little ran for 1,467 yards and 32 touchdowns and also threw for 13 more scores for the Buffaloes this season. Blaik Middleton, RB, Dodge City Middleton was a Western Athletic Conference first team selection, leading the Red Demons in rushing with 858 yards and six touchdowns; and two more receiving touchdowns in 2013. Morgan Olvera, RB-LB, Meade Olvera ran for 1,494 yards and 14 touchdowns for the Buffaloes. He also had 46 tackles on defense in helping Meade reach the Class 2-1A sub-state in 2013. Trever Powell, RB-DB, Kiowa County Powell, a second-time selection to the All-Area team, ran for 2,478 yards and 37 touchdowns in his senior season. He also had 82 tackles on defense for the Mavericks. Zac Shiew, OL-DL, Hodgeman County Shiew was another member of the Longhorns' linemen that helped the team to succeed. Shiew was second in team tackles with 91, including 56 solo tackles. Shiew is a returning member to the All-Area team. Nathan Stein, QB-DB, Spearville Stein ran 1,150 yards and 21 touchdowns and also threw for 13 more for the Royal Lancers this season. He also led Spearville in total tackles with 74. COACH OF THE YEAR Matt Housman (Hodgeman Co.) Housman had a team that reloaded after making it to the Eight-Man I regional round in 2012, to a practically different team that went all the way to the state championship game in 2013.
