Ruth Anne McCune, 71, of Round Rock, Texas, passed away on Monday, Dec. 09, 2013, due to complications of a well fought battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
A remembrance service with Wes Penner officiating will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at Palmyra Baptist Church, 999 NW Butler Rd., Benton. A celebration of Ruth Anne’s life and fellowship, including a light lunch and desserts will follow in the church reception center. To honor her, casual attire is requested and feel free to wear purple.
Ruth Anne was born in Wichita, to Harvey and Ruth (Arnold) Breneman on Jan. 15, 1942. She attended Towanda High School and graduated president of her class in 1960. She had many childhood and high school friends who she kept in touch through Towanda and Benton High alumni activities. She married her high school sweetheart, Marvin McCune in 1961 and was married for over 52 years. She was involved in her church at Palmyra where she played piano and organ. She was also very involved in her kids’ activities with Benton Grade School, Circle High School and Benton Busy Bees 4-H club. She always loved working and teaching children with her own childcare service for family and friends. She later moved to Texas to be closer to her own children.
Ruth Anne is survived and dearly missed by her loving family: husband, Marvin McCune; son, Kent; daughters, Annette, Kristie and Michele. She was an amazing grandmother to Mandy, Colby, Morgan, Max, Sam and Ike. She was a new and proud great-grandmother to the latest addition, Arrow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made either to: Kansas 4-H Foundation for a memorial tree at Rock Springs Ranch to fund scholarships for 4-H’ers.
