Davis was the top offensive play for the Mavericks this season, leading in almost every offensive category.
He was first in points-per-game (14), total season points (294) 3-pointers (47), steals (63) and free throw percentage (.820). He was second in assists (21) and dropped to fifth in turnovers (39) a marked improvement from his 50 season turnovers a year ago.
The 5’8” senior Mavericks Head Coach Nick Perez said “always had the green light,” ranked second in the Southern-Plains Iroquois League with 2.2 three pointers per game behind Fowler’s Taylin Bird (3.1), first in steals per game (3.0) and fourth in free throw percentage. He also ranked fourth in the league in overall season points (294) behind Bird (297), Fowler’s Jett Reese (301) and Ashland’s Grant Meininger (350).
Davis won “All-Around Player of the Year” in last year’s Kiowa County Signal MVP race.
“I don’t care what the stat sheet says,” commented one voter. “I saw him smiling and enjoying the game every minute he was playing, that earned my vote.”
“He was a leader on the court,” commented another voter. “His skill level shines as a great ball handler and an excellent defensive player.”
