Heft was a powerful offensive force on the court for most of the year. An emergency appendectomy sidelined her for four games at the end of the season, but she was still near the top in most offensive and defensive categories.
Heft was tied with Katelynn Gamble for second in points per game (7.1), fourth in total season points (128) and third in free throw percentage (.480)
Defensively she was second in total assists (19) and assists per game (1.1), second in steals (38) and first in steals per game (2.1) although she also led the Mavericks with 43 turnovers.
Heft won the Kiowa County Signal’s Most Valuable Player last season.
“The team changed when she was on the court,” said one voter. “She has this sense of urgency. It was infectious.”
“She looked like the consummate student athlete all season. She hustled, she grinded it out and I like that,” said another voter. “But she also played the other team like they owed her money. I liked that to.”
