    Open races including Mullinville City Council and the USD 422 and USD 474 school boards.
     
    Only three of the six positions up for election on the April 2 ballot will be contested races. The largest race will be the Mullinville City Council with seven candidates vying for five open seats.
     
    Jary Boehme, Dee McDonald, Tom Daniels, Corey Neuhold, M.T. Liggett, Rob Roberts and Ronald “Rocky” Watson are all running to share the council table with Kimble.
     
    Boehme, Daniels, McDonald and Watson are current city council members seeking re-election.
     
    Andy Kimble will run unopposed in the Mullinville mayoral race.
     
    “Well, either people think I’m doing a good job or no one else wants it,” quipped Kimble on Monday.  Kimble said his priorities would be continuing to improve infrastructure and completing water well repairs. “I just want to continue down the path of fixing what we’ve got.”
     
    Current Haviland City Council members Dwight Smitherman and Kay Unruh are seeking re-election, while Adrian Halverstadt, Matt Ballard and Adam Weseloh are also running for three vacant seats.
     
    The USD 474 Board of Education will have three uncontested seats, as current members Jean Jones, Diane Thompson and Lori Larsh are all seeking re-election. 
     
    USD 422 will see a significant change, as three of seven seats are open and none of the departing school board members are seeking re-election.
     
    Tony Rhodes, Shawn Cannon, Cory Zenger and Sue Greenleaf-Taylor are all running to replace outgoing members Roberta Stauth, Dale Hayes and Bill Odle.
     
    Roger Staats is running an unopposed re-election bid for the single Kiowa County Memorial Hospital Board seat.
