Rebekah Nelson received an honorable mention for her photograph entry to the "Beauty of the Heartland Photo Contest" sponsored by the USDA, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Services, Vet Services and Plant Project Quarantine. Rebekah is a member of the Walton 4-H Club. She is the daughter of Shelley and Phil Nelson.

The offices of the United States Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Services, Veterinary Services and Plant Protection Quarantine are being re-located to a different building in Topeka. Their mission each day is to protect and promote the health and value of American agriculture and natural resources. They asked for the assistance of Kansas 4-H photographers in adorning their new office with photographs depicting the true aspect of agriculture in Kansas, and the "Beauty of the Heartland." All photos needed to follow the theme of agriculture in Kansas being indicative of agriculture or rural living in Kansas.

Top winners from each category will be enlarged and displayed within the department's office. Rebekah's photo is on display in a photo journal in their waiting room for all to enjoy.

Burrito sale, livestock contest postponed

The best plans don't always go as planned. The Newton FFA Livestock Judging Contest scheduled for this weekend had to be cancelled. As a result, the 4-H members will not be making tacos and burritos for sale.

So... if you still want some tacos and/or burritos, please pre-order them by March 18. We will be making them at our next club meeting on March 25. Contact any Jr. Leader or call the extension office at 284-6930 and we can put you on the list.

The FFA contest will be rescheduled, but a date is not yet available.
