Richard A. Kemmerly, 80, of Benton, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 at Wheatstate Manor in Whitewater. Celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at The Benton Church.
Richard was born March 28, 1932, in El Dorado, to Arthur A. and Eythel (Throckmorton) Kemmerly. He was raised and attended school in El Dorado until 1949. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He retired in 1969 with the rank of M/SGT having served for 20 years. He then enrolled at BCCC in 1970 later transferring to Wichita State where he graduated in 1974. Upon graduation he went to work with the Kansas SRS office as a supervisor until retiring in 1994.
He leaves his wife, Jean of 59 years; two sons, David and Clay (Debbie) Kemmerly, all of Benton; three grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; nine step-great grandchildren; two brothers, Jack (Fran) Kemmerly of Yuba City, Calif., and Dan (Irene) Kemmerly of El Dorado; sister, Judy (Rex) Parks of El Dorado; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
His parents; sister, Mary Katherine; brother, David Grant Kemmerly; and his beloved daughter, Nannette Kemmerly Weber preceded Richard in death.
