Scripture: Numbers 13:32 And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, “The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size.
33 We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.”
Observation: Ten of the twelve spies returning from looking through the Promised Land had a negative report. How common it is for us to think that others see us as we see ourselves. They saw themselves as grasshoppers and thought that the Canaanites saw them the same way. In reality, the Canaanites were afraid of the Israelites because they had heard how the Israelite’s God had delivered them from Egypt. Note: The Canaanites were afraid of Israel because they DID consider Israel’s God. The Israelites were afraid of the Canaanites because they DID NOT consider God!
Application: What I think about God is much more important than what I think about my circumstances! It is good for me to get to know HIM as much as I can.
Prayer: Lord, I do not just want to know about you, I want to know you! Amen
