Helen Charlene Martin, 81, died January 26, 2013 at the Carriage House of Greensburg. She was born October 10, 1931 in Greensburg, the daughter of George and Pearl (Lawson) Parkin. A lifetime resident of Kiowa County, Helen graduated from Greensburg High School in 1949. In 1952 she married Bobby J. Martin at her parents' home. He preceded her in death February 27, 2009. Helen was a ranch wife and helped train cutting horses. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary where she organized many soup suppers, and was the secretary of the Kiowa County Gun Club for many years. Helen is survived by a cousin Cleon and wife Jackie Parkin, Coldwater, Kansas, Sister-in-laws Peggy Colborn and husband Don, Salina, Kansas, Helen Melton and husband Bob, Lake Lotawana, Missouri, Cora Martin, Pratt, Kansas, many Great nieces and nephews, and loyal friends Gerald and Lois Morehead, Greensburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Henry Parkin, twin brother John Parkin, nephews Kenneth Parkin and Craig Melton, niece Marquita Williams and brother-in-law R.E. "Shorty" Martin and his wife Patty. Graveside funeral service and celebration of Helen's life will were held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2013 in Fairview Cemetery, Greensburg, with Rev.
