Gene L. Neelly, 76, died Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Pratt Regional Medical Center in Pratt, Kansas. He was born July 12, 1936 in Pawnee County, KS the son of Archie & Helen (Carter) Neelly. Gene has lived in Pratt for 18 years coming from Greensburg. He taught & coached school at Claflin, Greensburg and Mullinville. After retirement he was a substitute teacher at Pratt, Skyline, Haviland and Kiowa County High Schools, Southwest Elementary and Pratt Junior High. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pratt, the BPOE Elks Lodge #1451 and Don’s Servateria “Breakfast Club”.
On June 25, 1994 he married Nancy (Thomas) Drosselmeyer at Pratt, KS. She survives. Other survivors include a son Kurt Neelly of Bowling Green, KY, two daughters Cassie & Troy Kirby of Greensburg, KS and Keri & Mark Shroyer of Hutchinson, KS, a step son Tracy & Nancy Drosselmeyer of Wichita, KS, two step daughters Kiva & Scott Sanders of Olathe, KS and Reesa Gilleece of Olathe, KS and Greg Gilleece of Pratt, two brothers Charles Neelly of Mullinville, KS and Alan Neelly of Hutchinson and 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Earl and Larry Neelly.
Cremation has taken place. Friends signed the register book Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm with family receiving friends from 2:00 – 4:00 at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Rd., Pratt, KS 67124. Memorial Service were held on Monday, October 15th at 10:30 am at the First United Methodist Church in Pratt with Dr. Dan Ferguson presiding. Memorials may be made to Kiowa County High School Athletic Department, 1st United Methodist Church or Albert McFall Cancer Fund in care of the mortuary.
